A cultural reference from my apartment deals with the speed at which someone is speaking. One of my roommates is named Victoria and talks extremely slow (at least compared to the rest of us). There was the freshman tree, the sophmore tree, the junior tree, the senior tree, and then some other trees for group such as the "smart people" or the "theatre people".
